About the "German Future Earth Summit"
Initiated by international organisations such as ICSU, ISSC, UNEP, UNU and UNESCO the research topics in Future Earth: research for global sustainability can be shaped by scientists worldwide.
The organisational forms are going to be put in practice by the nomination of the Future Earth Scientific Committee in June 2013 and the establishment of a global Future Earth Secretariat in 2014. And together with the scientific community research topics and key aspects of the three Future Earth themes „Dynamic Planet“, „Global Development“ and „Transformation“ are going to be focused. At this, the "German Committee Future Earth" (DKN Future Earth), aims to further develop the international research program together with the German community.
As one of the first national Future Earth committees worldwide the DKN Future Earth was established in April 2013 by DFG. To provide a platform for the discussion and further development of research foci and key aspects in Future Earth on national level, the DKN Future Earth hosts the “German Future Earth Summit” in January 2014. The event shall contribute to strengthen the German community; to initialize interdisciplinary networks and to discuss innovative topics in an interdisciplinary environment.
